The following has been released to the Press but I will also add this:
1.As contracts for the work are likely to be given out soon, people living near the proposed site may see people in the hospital grounds measuring etc. However, as yet, full planning has not been granted.
2.Activity that will be seen in the next few months is the razing of Yarboro Court:

Trust invites bids to build new local mental health facility
Plans for a £15m state-of-the-art mental health facility in Lincoln have moved a step closer, with the launch of a formal process to select a contractor and design for the project.
Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, which manages mental health services across Lincolnshire, has started the process to select a contractor to build a new rehabilitation facility on the St George’s Hospital site on Long Leys Road in Lincoln.
The new facility will replace the two existing in-patient wards already on the site and a third female-only ward will be built which is a new development for the Trust. These three wards - two single sex and one mixed gender - will each contain 15 beds, an office and therapy space.
Clinical coordinator for the development, Ann Dodd said: “The new facility will enable local service user to access mental health rehabilitation services that will best meet their needs and be closer to their local community and families.
“The whole service is focused on working towards independence and recovery to enable service users to regain health and mental wellness before being able to move on and live as independently as possible when they are discharged from the service.”
The selection process for the contractor will be completed on 2nd December when the successful contractor will be announced. All the prospective contractors will have access to the library of information gathered from groups in and around Lincolnshire as well as the results of public engagement that sought people’s views. The rehabilitation facility is expected to be open and fully operational by March 2012.

Latest info from the hospital:
Contractor appointed to build new local mental health facility
Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, which delivers mental health services across Lincolnshire, has appointed Costain to build the county’s new £15m rehabilitation facility.

Len Hartley, project manager at the Trust, said: “We’re delighted to be able to announce the appointment of Costain to design and build the new rehabilitation services buildings on the St George’s Hospital site in Lincoln. Costain can clearly demonstrate a particularly good understanding of mental health facilities, a strong partnering ethos, and a practical and economical approach to the design and build of the new facilities.”

The building work involves the demolition of the existing Yarborough Court located at the rear of St George’s Hospital on Long Leys Road. It will replace the two existing in-patient wards already on the site and a third female-only ward will be built which is a new development for the Trust. The one-story rehabilitation facility will be fully operational by March 2012 and will accommodate a total of 45 service users at any one time.

Alex Vaughan, managing director for community sectors, Costain said: “I am extremely pleased that we have this opportunity to work in partnership with the Trust to support its ambitions to deliver an excellent service comprising first-class facilities. This is an important project for the Trust and everyone in the project team is excited about working together to achieve a successful outcome.”

Service users, their families, carers and the local community, along with the Trust’s clinical staff have been involved throughout the consultation process and have made valuable contributions to the overall design.

The Trust’s clinical coordinator, Ann Dodd said: “The new facility will enable local service users to access mental health rehabilitation services that will best meet their needs and be closer to their local community and families.

“The whole service is focused on working towards independence and recovery to enable service users to regain health and mental wellness before moving to live as independently as possible when they are discharged.”
