THEFT

Oakleigh Drive 0145 Wed 21st Oct - 2 males disturbed on a driveway attempting to steal petrol from a car - made off in a dark car. Not easy to stop someone trying this if your car is outside.............all cars have fuel in them and it's not easy to take it inside at night!!!!

Theft - off Carram Way, near Baker's Field, 2:30am, 8/4/10.

Whilst having the kitchen window smashed was inconvenient (and on a cold fosty night too), I would like to thank the miscreant for reaching over the car keys and mobile phone to reach the purse they stole. I trust he (or she) will spend the £4 it contained wisely. Oh, and additional thanks for giving us plenty of time to cancel the bank cards before you trying to use them.

Two lessons learnt:
1. Be careful what you leave in view through your downstairs windows.
2. It really is amazing what you can sleep through, I vaguely heard something, and MrsS heard bugger all - and that was a window going through - so don't kid yourself you'll hear burglers if it happens to you.

Thanks to the police for being responsive and helpful (and not telling us it was our own fault). For info, they've had no other reports in the area recently, but the vilain might like the look of the area and return, so be warned.

Be vigilant - don't let it happen to you!

Cheers
Gary

gary..the police were also investigating a breakin today that we had in the sheds at the bottom last week and stole £500 worth of metal items but only valued scrap £20 to them.strange that it was not mentioned by the officer this morning.i also challenged a youth the other night who was travelling down the front gardens overthe fence between us and our neighbour and down towards you.please inform your investigating officer, the youth resembled a thin faced wayne rooney with a hood, .tony

Gary, so sorry to hear about this. I have gone out and locked my back gate. At least, if there is an at least, it sounds like it wasn't a break-in but an opportunist thing!

Tony - thanks for the info, have passed details to the Investigating Officer.

Deb - as you can see from the content (and probably the tone) of my original posting, we're not treating it as big deal - but we do realise we were lucky (yes, I think that's the right word) to have been burgled in such a "low key" manner.
