The famous aviation magazine called Flypast is in its 25th year of publication and its current editor, Ken Ellis, is taking a trip to the Metheringham Airfield Visitor Centre on Wednesday, 26th September, to speak about its history.

Flypast magazine is the United Kingdom's top aviation journal covering aviation heritage across the globe and was first launched in 1981.

Ken has been its editor for two sessions amounting to 18 years. He also help launch during 1988 another journal called AirForces Monthly and during his career edited the annual Airshow magazine. He has written a number of leading articles and topics on British aviation and is a pilot himself having his own Private Pilots Licence.

He lives in Rutland, married and will only indicate his age as being in his fifties.

In coming to Lincoln he has decided on a topic which is close to his heart and passion which will be called The World of Flypast, illustrated by coloured slides.

This lecture will begin at 7.30pm and will be held in the former WW2 gymnasium which has been painstakingly restored and now used by the Friends of Metheringham Airfield for functions and events.

Admission for visitors is £3.00 which includes refreshments. It is free to members of Friends of Metheringham Airfield and those who served in 106 Squadron which flew from RAF Metheringham for part of the war.

For further details please contact the Visitor Centre on 01526 378270.

If you wish to interview Ken Ellis at Flypast, kindly telephone his office on 01780 755131.

This will be a talk not to be missed!

John Shipton,

Press Officer,

Metheringham Airfield Visitor Centre, Lincoln.
