There is no further news regarding this after speaking to councillor Robert Parker this evening.
A charity in Lincoln was interested in buying the site for communual facilities and social housing but withdrew because they wanted something more central in the city of Lincoln.
Mouchel, who runs the financial side for Lincoln County Council, is keen to get the site sold to the highest bidder which could be for housing development. But the downturn in the housing market is proving difficult and houses are not selling.
It appears that the Conservative controlling groups both at Lincolnshire County Council and Lincoln City Council just cannot agree about the future of the site. The leader of the County Council called Martin Hill does not want to get involved and is leaving the situation with his county officers. While the leader of City Council, Darren Grice, is not bothered and is leaving the discussions with city officers. City Council has no money in the kitty to purchased the site.
However, I was informed by County Hall a few months ago that in 2009, the County Council is going to apply for a change of use from community facilities with a planning application. If you can remember City Council did a similar thing regarding a change of use for Baker's Field to a cemetery. If the County Council's application is rejected by City Council, they will take it to the next level by appealing.
As far as County Hall is concerned the dormant site and future use has gone on too long and the County Council want to sell the land to replenish the public purse - their coffers!
I have asked Rob to keep us informed of any other news coming his or our way concerning the former SEC site.
