snow on cars: warning

Postby emmagary » Thu Dec 02, 2010 4:21 pm

Hi
Just been informed by a friend that as from today police are to start issuing fixed penalty notices for anyone driving with snow on their car roofs as this could slide and cover screens.

The penalty will be £60 plus 3 points.

Just thought I would share x

......and once again no wonder the Police come in for a lot of critisism.
What with all thats happening on the roads already around the County, with all services no doubt fully stretched, how can they afford the time to stop and charge people for snow on the roof of a car. Pulling people over on the highway at the moment would be a greater hazard.

It would be interesting to refuse to pay, end up in court and plead it was an act of God and the snow was nothing to do with you it just fell out the sky.

Time to buy a soft top and leave the lid down, I don't think!!!!

no emma, always worth posting it may have been true but after it going round for a few days the bbc website said it was untrue. I think 'BigCrack' if not a policeman then is related to one... so he should know!

Why is it 'always worth posting' if it's not true???
Perhaps if it had been posted with a 'link' to an official source it may have had some sort of credibility.
I haven't seen any 'Official Source' confirming this load of absolute nonsense.
Maybe just another excuse for people like SteveW to bash the Police.
Yet more 'scaremongering' by people with nothing better to do.

Get A Life!!!

because if you post you believe it to be true and people can, if they wish, act accordingly since afterall clearing snow from your roof 'just in case' is no biggee. not always easy to verify, it was a friend of mine who came across the bbc info but even since then a neighbour reported the statement to me as truth. put him right!
