From Cllr Parker:
Following a report that the Social Education Centre (SEC) was being inappropriately occupied, I can confirm that a member of the County Council’s property team will be on site there today Monday 18 April with a contractor to inspect the buildings. The aim is to ensure that there are no people inside and then to re-secure any access points that have been broken into. A flooded part of the basement is also being pumped out to remove any potential health and safety risks. We will also be arranging for a local security firm to visit the site on a weekly basis to confirm that it remains secure.
Discussions between the County Council, the NHS, and the City Council are to be revived to try to bring about both the successful disposal of the SEC and the provision of a community facility which can be enjoyed by local residents. The appetite of potential buyers of the site is not large in the current economic climate and the County Council does have a responsibility to council tax payers to get a fair deal.
I will report again when there is more to say
Robert Parker
County Councillor
Lincoln West
