in the lincoln city councils own publication(civic news) about 6 months ago there was an item about the proposed cemetery and security.the item mention metal fencing and security cameras.at that time park riding school had a private meeting with council officials over the riding school issues ,i mentioned the fence as stated in the article and they were not aware of the article that had stated the design to be used. The newspaper was issued to householders through the letterbox. i can recall at the last planning approval meeting after the site visit the height was stated at 2m at a point of the meeting during the debate by council members.i personnally feel it is to high, will be an eyesore and not required to be that high.

Hi there coincidently we recently received a letter from the Planning Department setting out the conditions for the site. In one of the conditions it confirms that a 6' security fence will be erected and that extra planting will occur towards the south / east corner, although it makes no reference to the materials to be used for the fencing. It also mentions that further investigations will take place regarding the ownership of the existing hedge along the eastern boundary and once confirmed discussions will take place with the owners to agree an acceptable height. This doesn't really answer any questions, but guess confirms what is going to happen. If anyone finds out what they'll be using for this fencing it would be appreciated if you could post the info here. Thanks and if I find out anymore I'll do the same.

If they are quoting 'Security Fencing' you can near enough bet it will be of metal construction.

Either pallisade type or square/oblong mesh type.

Both can be either galvanised or PVCu coated galvanised and available in various colours but most common is Moss Green. (Similar to the Junior School on Yarborough Road)

Should residents now be making their enquiries with Lincoln City Council concerning what is meant by their term called security fencing.
Don't forget that the two buildings at the entrance to the cemetery on the plans submitted by Lichfield Planning resembled towers which reminded folk of concentration camps that were built by Nazi Germany to exterminate the Jews.
Having visited the Auschwitz Birkenenau camp in Poland, perhaps City Council would like to put barb wire on top of the security fencing to keep the ghosts in and the inquisitive ghoulish people out!

Housing would be change of use, I think cemetery is 'leisure'.

Agree wth Deb regarding change of use required.
Change of use will also apply for the former SEC site on Long Leys Road if County Hall decides to sell the building and land for housing.
That too is appearing to be not going anywhere and is taking a long time to resolve.
Any update about this!

I've been in touch with Steve Lockwood and asked if there was any news concerning plans, costings or budget for the cemetery and he wrote that nothing had changed and that they hadn't got access to the field until April 2010.
