Parking on the Footpaths!!

General Chat about St Georges Park - Don't be shy please post a message to say Hi!

Postby deb » Mon Aug 06, 2007 11:00 pm

Welcome aboard Gary - for those that aren't aware, Gary is now on the LLRA committee.

Squeak, the councillors should give us the same answer as this is what the council officers told LLRA at the meeting that Iggy refers to. I think they are dragging their heels somewhat but have it diaried that when the brick humps start on Wilson's, if Persimmons is not started, to go back and hassle the council.

Bus stop car parking.

Postby GDStimson » Wed Aug 08, 2007 7:07 pm

For completeness, here's a slightly condensed version of the response from Dave Underwood at County Highways.

As you are aware this development is currently not adopted by
Lincolnshire County Council and is until adoption the responsibility of
the developer. However I can inform you that we have requested the
developer to erect a sign to indicate the status of the bus stop. They
have spoken to PC Coaches who currently operate the service to the
estate to determine the suitable times for the operation of the bus
stop.

PC Coaches indicated that the current service requires access to the
lay-by between 6am and 6pm. David Wilson Homes are therefore arranging
a sign to be erected which will allow parking in the lay-by between 6pm
in the evenings until 6am the next morning. This sign should be able to
be located on the existing street ligting column so a post does not have
to be erected.

I hope this clarifies the situation.

I also steered him towards this forum when I sought permission to quote him:

Thank you for the link, some of the comments make very interesting
reading. I can confirm that I'm in regular contact with DWH's and
Griptrak the contractor on site with a view to getting the rest of the
development onto maintenance and ultimately adopted. I would like to
mention that it is all our interests to ensure the roads are constructed
to an adoptable standard so as not to be a future liability on tax
payers and our maintenance budget.

I am willing to speak to anybody from the LLR developments to discuss
and update them on progress/problems around the area to date.

Yours sincerely

Dave Underwood
Senior Highways Officer

I know this is only a simple issue, but still, I say hats off to the man for actually sorting it out.

Regards
Gary

I am using one of the internet cafe's in Newquay so I have been looking at my e-mails sent to my In Box. Also looked at the St Georges web site for current news and updates.
Here in Newquay, there has been no further sign of the Great White shark. Only surfers from all over the world and the UK taking part in the Ripcurl Boardmasters Surfing Championship 2007. A great event and well worth seeing. Newquay has been packed out with surfers and visitors.
My family and I are still enjoying ourselves here.
Well, here is councillor Helen Heath's reply dated 3rd August.

Dear John,
I have written to Pete Boswell, Head of Planning Services, asking him to
comment on your complaint, and to advise what can be done to ensure the developers do what they are supposed to do.
Sorry for the delay getting back to you - I've been having some building
work done at home, which has been a bit of a distraction. I will be back
in touch as soon as I hear from Mr Boswell.
Neil and Karen are not away as far as I know - they were certainly at
the planning meeting on Wednesday night, so please feel free to contact
them.
Regards
Helen Heath.

Can someone please send an e-mail to Neil Murray and Karen Lee about the situation.
Thanks!

I think if Helen has written to Mr Boswell, our other councillors do not need to be involved on this one but yes certainbly next time we need councillor involvement as it would be unfair to load all the work on one person.

Meanwhile go away John and enjoy yourself - you're supposed to be on holiday forgetting about work stuff and doin' some chillin'!!

Deb and everyone else who may read this...

Using once again an internet cafe in Newquay.
Still enjoying myself here in Cornwall. But the weather has changed for the worse. Heavy rain started this morning (14th August) and will continue tomorrow (Wednesday) with winds upto 40 mph.
Lifeguards and the Coastguard have warned swimmers and surfers about the coastline currents which are very strong.
I have already been told off twice so far by lifeguards about swimming outside designated areas.
The only Jaws I have encoutered so far is my wife Carol who tells me off for doing things I should not be doing when going into the waters. Have yet to see the Great White shark which I have been told by local fishermen does not exist and is a hoax to attract tourists to the Cornish area.
Now on my way later to do an interview with BBC Radio Cornwall on the theme "Why I come to Newquay" and keep returning.
The only downfall is traffic jams on part of the A30 road which is mainly duel carriageway but a section of this road is reduced to a single lane on both sides which causes traffic congestion.
This reminds me of the Lincoln A46 bypass where to save money this was done on various sections. But overall has been not cost effective and causes traffic misery to motorists.
What annoys the local populance and visitors in Cornwall is the attitude of 4x4 drivers using the narrow roads. They think they own the roads and won't back off or reverse their vehicles when facing on coming motorists. It is like watching Clint Eastwood facing a gunslinger who wants to draw his gun and likes a fight.
So Deborah, this is my last update from Newquay.

Hello all

If you've already read this once - apologies for the duplication. This subject is covered in two threads, and I wanted to make sure I got everyone who was originally interested.

I notice the sign to permit out of hours parking in the Carram Way bus pull-in has finally appeared - didn't take long did it?

From previous statements made by highways, this implies that the roads in the David Wilson areas have gone into the maintenance phase prior to adoption.

No further word on completing the Persimmons roads yet I'm afraid.

Regards
Gary
