There are only 12 new car parking spaces and 4 access spaces in the approved plans for the new hospital. I have the plans

I think there were always enough before though it's just that they weren't used and of course now, they are limited just when there is need for more! I think also that there are change arounds in the other buildings that were in use there but won't be(or already aren't) used anymore. However, if we find there are problems, or anyone has problems I can take a walk around and see if the car park is full or whether it is just that people are parking on the estate roads. At the moment Carram may well be convenient but I can't see it being so much so in the future. Also the new staff will be on shift patterns, they won't all be arriving and leaving at the same time. Let me know how it goes though Mac after the opening.

Will keep an eye on it after opening. Majority of staff will be there 09.00-17.00 as shift work will only affect nursing staff and some ancillary staff.
It might be an idea also to keep an eye on what happens to Carholme Ward and Dooddington ward after the new unit opens as they had been updated or whether it might be used for more administration staff from other areas, as they own those buildings.

it is my understanding that these will no longer be used, all nursing and facility users will be in the new building. The hospital do not know as yet what will happen to the empty buildings. I will be meeting with the build partners next month. If you have any specific questions you want answering let me know here or PM me and I'll find someone that can answer them.

Hi,

I find the people who live on corners of streets that enter onto closes in the area to be very selfish as they too park their cars either on the pavements totally or on the road making it difficult for the other vehicles to get by and forces a one way or even just a squeeze through by one car if there is both sides of the entrance using the entrances as a car park.

I agree it is a bit of a pain just after the shops there are only a couple of houses there yet there seems to be parking around the back and 6-10 cars parked I witness this on a sunday and a monday also when the salon is shut so its not always the customers that of course.

It just seems to be a case of people being inconsiderate..

Catch 22 it seems. Like the top of Mitchell Drive, if there's no yellows then parking will be allowed no matter how "inconsiderate". Don't venture onto St Georges too often but agreed that the daytime parking makes the junction of Carram and LL Road blind when coming down from the estate near the hospital and it seems it will take a "nutter" to make the local news and possibly get something done unfortunately.

On a separate matter I feel sorry for the residents of St Georges and Albion backing up to the hospital, goodness the new site is creeping close to your houses. Noise and disturbance and recently reported contaminated land issues also affect the roads near the new site across Carholme Road. Guess that's the price we pay for choosing housing with convenience to the city centre and amenities it seems.

I agree, we really like this area, lovely neighbours and close to town work etc however, the hospital is so off putting. We do wonder if this landing in our gardens will be devaluing our houses - only time will tell. A couple of neighbours have got theirs on the market but it seems no sale after a lengthy period. I do wonder if this has a connection with the hospital. When we have seen the plans in the past we have never noticed the path running by the backs of our fences. I do hope these new fences will be taller than the general public that can now gain access and will be passing by..

Funny you should mention the fence, I actually added this to the comment to the hospital. When it's all done the fence needs to be at least 6 foot BOTH sides and if it's effectively shorter their side at the moment is there earth piled against your fence that could be damaging it? Did you not know about the hospital when you bought your house. You say you moved in in November. Your solicitor was seriously lapse if it wasn't mentioned. When it's done, the landscaping should screen you. Have you seen the landscaping plans? They are available from Planning at City Council, drop a note to zoe.raygen@lincoln.gov.uk and she can point you where you can see them if you like. The 'path' if not on the plans may just be what the builders are using at the moment and not a long term thing. Again Zoe can point you to the most up to date plans to check on this.

Ive not been out there for a couple of days so not sure. My husband is 6 ft 3 so the fence will still be short to him haha. No we didnt get notified until they started building and we researched more into it ourselves. Previous owners stated that when asked about the lovely open space that there are plans for a building but from what they have seen it isnt going to be big or overlooking etc. we did google and search around for the development plans but could not find much at all available to general public. the solicitors didnt find anything much on it either.

Hmmmm - given that we are at about week 40 of the build and planning is approved before that, I am not convinced your legal people did the best job. BUT that doesn't mean that you wouldn't be here anyway even if you'd known because, as you say, nice convenient area and friendly folk!

Debs,
Slight problem re 6 foot fence height when your garden is approx 5 feet higher at the house end-(sloping down to fence), So the 6 foot fence no longer works re the building .

yes mine is like that at the bottom of my garden - a 6 foot fence that is only 4 foot on my side. But with the hospital, if you, M.AT. or anyone finds that a 6 foot fence is not really a 6 foot fence let me know because I would not think that would count as any sort of screening unless you want it that way i.e. what you would be saying is that your 6 foot fence needs to be 8 foot? Really need to know these issues before any landscaping starts. The next meeting is September. From the hospital side they will not necessarily know that your 6 foot fence isn't really. PM me if it's an issue and you do not want to give your road name here.

The last couple of days two cones have appeared on Carram Way near the junction with Manrico Drive. Well done to the person who put them there as we can now see much better to drive round the corner (unless of course it was a constuction worker reserving his private space!)
