I attended the Carholme Community Forum at County Hall this evening, 27th May.
A number of items were discussed concerning the Carholme Ward of Lincoln which included the Long Leys Road area.
Those appertaining and are important to local residents...
COMMUNITY TRAVEL ZONE FUNDING
An agreement has been reached for for a number of local schemes to be delivered under the second round of CTZ funding.
For the Long Leys Road area these are...
1) To combat speeding along Long Leys Road which is a busy road feeding in and out of the city of Lincoln, a Vehicle Activated Speed Reduction sign is to be installed on this road. This sign will activate if vehicles are exceeding the speed limit.
2) Higson Road steps. £70,000 has been allocated for footpath improvements from the CTZ grant. This should not affect the Section 106 money and any other monies available.
CTZ funding has been given to other projects in the Carholme Ward and these are...
West Parade/Orchard Street - a pedestrian crossing facility.
Carholme Road, near the Co-op store/petrol station - a pedestrian crossing facility.
Yarborough Road zebra crossing, near Liquorice Park - the crossing is to be upgraded to a Puffin signalised crossing.
Brayford Way/ Campus Way - a pedestrian crossing for students and pedestrians.
Burton Road/ Yarborough Crescent - cycle route facilities.
THE FORMER SOCIAL EDUCATION CENTRE ON LONG LEYS ROAD
Lincolnshire County Council and the Long Leys Residents' Association will be meeting sometime in July 2008 to discuss any new proposals coming forward about funding arrangements. A meeting was supposed to take place in May but was postponed for a number of reasons.
FOOTPATH FROM LONG LEYS ROAD TO ALBION CRESCENT
Following initial problems with the type of limestone used, the wearing of the footpath will be monitored over a trial period (the summer) to see if it reacts as it should. To be reviewed again in the Autumn.
The date and time for the next Carholme Community Forum meeting will be arranged sometime in July 2008 and details will be given ASAP.
