Why do they need 3 entrances anyway? Seems a bit excessive to me!

Surley it would be more cost effective for them to let construction traffic use the main entrance, instead of churning up Carram Way, Benbow Way etc. and then having to reinstate it. (After all the NHS are in debt and I have had first hand experience of poor care due to lack of funding  )

Also, can I have my own private road going straight through the cemetery to my drive? My reasons, I cant be bothered to use the one on Long Leys Road, one entrance to my drive is not enough, why? just because!

The NHS intended locking the main entrance gates on Long Leys Road last autumn so that all staff, visitors (including training courses) and delivery vans would take the Carram Way, Manrico Drive and Benbow Way route. Probably due to the unfinished road surface, along Benbow, they seem to have (temporarily ?) delayed locking the gates. At the moment some of the traffic enters the gate on Long Leys Road and some around the estate route. But once the resurfacing along that stretch is completed it will probably mean the gates are locked. A quick estimate of the number of vehicles visiting the NHS site would be 200 per day; some of these vehicles will be in and out of the site several times a day. It can only get worse when the new Medium Secure Unit building starts as a) workmen will be looking for somewhere to park their own vehicles, b) building supplies deliveries, and finally c) extra staff and visitors to the new Unit.

Tudor, do you know if this vehicle was for the NHS? There shouldn't be any big construction lorries for them just yet , planning hasn't even been passed yet! TP seems to be upping its visits now the Spring is upon us (remeber if you use them to ask for your 10% discount)
Good news at the moment is that any damage before the council adopts the site has to be rectified by the builders. If I see the landscapers doing the tree bit next to the hospital wall (or elsewhere!)I'll ask if they can soil the dint over - they've done some on Berilldon where the edges had gone.
I can't remember the Hospital plan entrances/exits but when the next plan is available I'll try and remember to look but I know there are others use this site who have an interest in the hospital so if anyone can remember, please post for those interested.
I don't think it's time to lobby councillors yet, as I say the hospital plan could be a couple of years away yet, so closer to the time we can discuss potential noise, dust, damage etc and see if it can't be limited to noise dust and traffic within the hospital! I don't see why there can't be separate in and out routes long term either, given the choices of entrance because, as Iggy says, Carram becomes a one way. However, presumably traffic has always come in there, maybe as long ago as the 'Dawber' memorial stone dated in the wall?
Can I just say that it's nice to see some new names here and on other threads :)

No dint noted Benbow/Manrico junction so either sorted or the lorry went over the kerb but managed to avoid the grass (there are black marks on the kerb).

deb any idea what is the proposed landscaping to the grass areas at the top of manrico.i know from the original plans the builders should have left the planting in from the hospital days. now they have trashed that what are they going to do . i ask as they look to be nearly complete on all the other areas and this could result in them leaving site if they are not told told what to do

As before, planting season finished end of March so they may well have to stop any landscaping. The plans are to be agreed with the council but I'm not expecting more than just trees so that it matches the left side. I don't think shrubs and border planting would look 'right' on this area anyway so I'm rather hoping they're just going to stick with trees - or nothing. The 'grass' will be greened though whether with turf or seed. No one need worry about any dead grass not yet dealt with. It will NOT be adopted in that state, adoption takes at least a year from planting and the builders want out.

deb this is not a dig[lol] at you but could somebody just tell them ie contractor/council to get on with it get the planting completed clean up and GO i find this planting season a big laugh as it is only the builder who is at risk because if something dies off they will have to replace before adoption takes place if planting after end of march is a problem then why do all the garden centers in the UK not shut on last day of march until Oct .i bet you the contracters suppl-yer will still supply them .i will be taking a very good look at the grave yard if it goes ahead to make sure no grass/trees/etc is planted out side the planting season

For now as a starting point, the contractors have done/are doing the areas that are not under dispute. The rest has to be agreed with the coulcil. Yes, they could just plant and risk it but in the end I suppose that depends on how much planting and how many man hours. Thing is before the adoption time starts ticking, the council have to visit and tick off the approved plan. If the builders don't get a plan agreed in time they may work out that waiting is best. I don't know what stage 'agreement' is at but no amount of asking will make that date different. If the grass is green, level and trees remain unvandalised then until September it looks a darn sight better than it did a month ago! Of course with garden centres, we the public, get out our hosepipes, watering cans or empty our water buts to keep our little ones happy but I don't think many people will 'adopt' their area and do that. Some do - and you can tell - others don't seem to notice or can't be bothered to even pick up the litter in their front garden. That's human nature.
BTW I heard a complimentary comment on all your hard work on your shared area. Looking good! Lights at Christmas?!
