Whenever we have put an event on we have had the 'thanks, well done' etc comments followed by the shame it wasn't better supported. We have put on varied social events though the first part of this year including a film show and Ceilidh inside and gardens and BBQ outside. We have kept the prices very low to gauge interest because a community centre was one of the top priorities on JohnThorpe's original survey. But support has been poor from the community. We were nerly full for the Ceilidh but sold tickets to friends. The BBQ was the best turnout at 40 people but is there still an interest for a community centre? Will it be used? How will it be used? Will people get more involved? It's very difficult to judge. At the prices we have been charging we have raised just under £300 - about enough for a licence to play music in a community facility. We'll need a cleaner, bar staff, alarm contracts, stock, there'll be utility bills, maintenance etc etc. Do we want to and can we afford it...?
