Graffiti

Postby deb » Fri Aug 22, 2008 3:09 pm

There has been graffiti sprayed on the concrete slab on Higson Road steps. Apparently it’s ‘rude’ and names a lad from Berrilldon. The finger appears to be pointing at, once again, a young lad from the ‘big houses on the front’ called Perry. That doesn’t mean it is but the point is that he is being accused and again, he needs to know if he wants a chance to put the record straight.
I have contacted Lisa Turner at the council and she is dealing but no timescales are given for the clean up.

Someone living in the West End of Lincoln has been spraying graffiti on the footpaths, litter bins and onto the footpath between the Long Leys Road and West Parade main gates of the West Common. The graffiti paints a certain signature. PC Rick Moseley who is the beat bobby for Carholme Ward and our two PCSOs' are aware of the situation.
WERA said that this is not acceptable and the culprit found and possible prosecuted. Some of the graffiti has been removed by City Council's graffiti grimebusters because it looked bad for the area. I was involved in reporting the situation as with other residents.
Perhaps the "graffiti grimebusters" should remove the graffiti on Higson Road steps before other paintwork stuff is added which would make the area look ugly to look at.
Some people did a paintwork job under the bridge not far from the Horse and Groom pub and the Sea Cadets HQ. All of it was removed because it gave an appearance of neglect.
About 2 years ago someone did a similar job when we had a brick built bus shelter on Long Leys Road. The same person did a paintwork job too under the by pass bridge on Long Leys Road. WERA and our local councillors got it removed.

I have noticed a large increase in the West End too. Last week I emailed the Policing team for the area to ask if all the incidents had been 'crimed' as criminal damage in accordance with the National Crime Recording Standards. Anyone spotting fresh damage should inform the council with the details and encourage them to contact the police (or do it yourself) for a crime to be recorded. If not, the paint will be cleaned up at our expense, the incidents will continue, the local policing team will not be aware and people will moan that the police do nothing about it!!!...............and the ECHO will have headline news about the problems in the West End........and I'll struggle this time to put them right..................
