By her previous posts and the very fact she even bothers to come on here, I think at last we have someone who really cares about this area and the residents.

Thank you very much and In return you will get my VOTE anytime.

Hello...hello..hello...what's going on here!

Today I received another piece of political propaganda posted through my letter box asking me to vote for a certain candidate standing for the local elections on May 1st.
Still no knock on the door requesting my support!
Hmm...after reading the leaflet, this has led me to decide whom I will be voting for.
Lets look at what the candidate claims and which is specifically published on his leaflet...
Quote..." I have campaigned for improvements in Carholme ward such as increased use and maintenance of the common area and the access to Burton Road from St Georges Park Development (The steps)."
I can assure residents that the Conservative candidate, called Daniel Hutchinson, has never been seen at the Friends of the West Common meetings or at the Commons Advisory Panel meetings. Both have had meetings where members of the public can attend. And why I say this is because I have attended every one. What is not amusing is that the Conservatives have actually cut the budget costs of improving the West Common and have diverted the money elsewhere. Daniel has never campaigned publically or has approached both groups on the subject matter.
Now lets look at what he has said regarding Higson Road steps (see his statement above). Again, he has never been involved, approached the LLRA or offered help as a resident in working with our local councillors about these important steps.
We all know what Malcolm Withers, the Labour candidate standing, has been saying too regarding our Urban Village and Carholme ward. Not worth the paper his statements have been written on. Just like as an imposing style of verbal promises similar to that which has been spoken before our Urban Village began to take shape - all wind and no action!
And the new boy on the block, Nic Parker, the Socialist Alternative candidate. Not much substance or anything worth mentioning and any reference to our Urban Village, needed community facilities, and what to do with Baker's Field or what is required for Carholme ward.
Have you made up your mind yet to vote for?

Having attended WERA's AGM last evening, a number of folk came to listen and later took part in the discussions.
Candidates standing for tomorrow's election in Carholme ward attended and these included...
Councillor Helen Heath (Liberal Democrat)
Daniel Hutchinson (Conservative)
and Nic Parker (Socialist Alternative)
Serving councillors Neil Murray and Robert Parker were there too.
Malcolm Withers, the Labour candidate, was missing and I was told that he had practically given up due to adverse reactions on the doorstep because of his posted literature sent to people in the ward and could only give promises, if elected.
Councillor Karen Lee could not attend because she was on duty as a nurse at the County Hospital.
Helen, Neil and Robert were active in the discussions whilst Daniel and Nic remained silent during the meeting.
For Nic it was a learning curve as it was his first residents' AGM. He sat listening attentively and talked to residents afterwards.
Daniel would only talk to people who came to him. Some of them were Conservative supporters. He did say hello to me sheepishly before the meeting began but did not approach or speak to me afterwards.
The police was represented by PC Rick Mosely, the beat bobby.
The committee was re-elected with an additional committee member.
Overall the meeting was good and well attended.
We shall see who is elected tomorrow as the third serving City councillor.
So please vote and use your vote wisely!

The portacabin sited on the round about at the top of Albion Crescent where residents are expected to vote today, was not signposted again from the juction of Albion Crescent and Long Leys Road.
I received complaints about this this morning.
This prompted me to leave early for work and vote.
Yes, the complaints were substanciated and when talking to the folk manning the polling station, Lincoln City Council had forgotten to install a portaloo for the staff.
I was asked to contact City Hall which I did about these two situations.
By and behold, they had forgotten and were prompted to take remedial action.
We are a forgotten bunch here on the Long Leys Road area!

are you surprised one party did not show i am not ,properly could not get police protection like they felt they needed at the planning meeting [ yes we had to pay the bill for that also as tax payers ]
what do they think we are this side of the common wild animals
look out for the next planning meeting because if the Tory's cling on to power they will be after planning to build a wall to keep us out like others have tried over the years with wild tribes

Having visited the polling station at 8 pm (only 2 hours before their doors closed) I was concerned to see (from what the 2 chaps in the booth said and from seeing how many names were left uncrossed) how many people did not bother to turn up and make use of their vote.

Residents need to read the Lincolnshire Echo who have done a marvelous job of reporting having met the deadline for today's edition.
Here is a brief cover of what happened to Lincoln City Council and also at West Lindsey Council...

TORIES CELEBRATE DOUBLE ELECTION TRIUMPH

08:00 - 02 May 2008

The Conservatives had double success last night after taking control of West Lindsey and strengthening their grip on Lincoln.

Last night's local elections saw the Tories win seven seats in West Lindsey.

It takes the party's overall number in the Guildhall to 20, a majority of three.

Conservative leader Councillor Bernard Theobald said: "I thought we had a good chance of taking back control and I applaud all our candidates for their efforts.

"Nationally, there's been an upsurge in Conservative support and locally people have been saying they've regretted that we haven't been in power for the past two years."

In Lincoln, the Conservatives retained control of the city council, after winning the authority from Labour in 2007.

They now hold 18 seats in City Hall - an increased majority of three.

Conservative leader Coun Eddie Strengiel said: "I am extremely pleased with the result.

"Labour are in disarray nationally but I would like to think we won on local issues. Now we have got two years of control in which to move forward."

For more on the Conservative Party's successful night, see today's Lincolnshire Echo.
