Circling plane

Postby GDStimson » Fri Sep 03, 2010 10:33 am

Hi all

Has anyone noticed that a light aeroplane appears to have been circling over the West End, approx 10am-4pm for the last few days. It seems to be a small twin engined one as might be used by parachutists and is flying very high.

I work on Carholme Road and can hear it pretty much all day over the background noise in the office. I don't know if it disappears at all during the day, but it's certainly always there when I go outside. Anyone who gets this message in "real time", go outside and you'll hear it now.

Can anyone let us know what's going on? Speculation is rife in our office, which at least brightens up a dull day, but after several days the suspense is now killing us!

Cheers

Insight courtesy of ex-RAF friend: Electronic surveillance plane ZH537 - google for more details (although there aren't that many!).

Might explain why the AWACS have been doing lots of passes over the area too.

Looks like a training plane, as the previous poster said, its probably related to the ever so subtle awacs....!
