Cemetery site visit

Postby Cllr Helen Heath » Thu Apr 17, 2008 11:51 am

The site visit for the proposed cemetery at Bakers Field has been set for 4.30pm on Monday, 9th June. Residents can come along to make sure that councillors see the things that concern them. The visit will be followed at 6.30pm by a specially convened meeting of the City Council to consider the planning application, and residents can of course attend that too.

How about someone taking a video film of the site whilst it is 'in flood' ?
I can see no reason why this wouldn't be accepted as evidence.

Helen

Thanks for that information about the site visit. Perhaps I should offer teas, coffees and refreshments - it's only a short reach over the hedge from my back door!

More seriously, could you please confirm where the follow-on meeting will be held (Guildhall again?) so that we can make appropriate arrangements to attend.

Thanks
Gary

Helen could you find out what will the arrangements will be for the day of the visit ie
1 all councillors go of in a huddle and agree to it [or] 2 split into smaller groups and have a guide[resident] with each group
the second being the best option as option 1 people will spread about all over and dont forget there will be horses in the fields

I realise this visit will or has taken some arranging, but surely common sense tells you the time to visit is when it is or has been raining.

Why do they need to visit in numbers. Each individual councillor could just turn up after it's been raining stand by the gate and witness the state of the ground and water running off the field and down Long Leys Road. This way the visits can still be carried out by the deadline of June they have given themselves and each member report back with their individual findings with varying rainfalls encountered.

Better still, then when all have visited, give the responsibility to a 'clued up' member to visit on a daily basis and monitor varying effects of the rainfall on the surrounding area and ground .

As park riding school is a tenant and the even though the land is private council owned,i would expect that entry for the visit would be arranged through them as well,we do not want individuals just walking willy nilly around,we are under farm watch and police will be notified of trespassers accordingly.Gates are locked and livestock are running loose (18no) of which is a danger. As yet nobody has spoken to us since the last planning meeting. The water level is still 1 metre below ground and that is at the highest reading point.on there visit hopefully they will look in the burton estate field of which is adjacent, it is flooded and remains like that for a majority of the year.the water table is showing there because the land is 1 metre lower.By June the water level should have gone down if the rainfall lightens and they will see a different picture.hopefully they will have sense to realise that, unless they intend to do burials are only in the summer months.clay is a very hard material to deal with when either wet or dry.it is very noticeable that once in the field you dig a hole like their test areas that the surface once disturbed becomes very unstable and boggy and when stood on you sink.this is going to happen to graves once backfilled. :!:
