'Carols On the Green'

Postby deb » Thu Dec 02, 2010 9:17 pm

This popular event now in its 5th year will be held at 6.30pm on Saturday 18th December. Hugh Hill will lead us with some festive songs (live music weather permitting) and readings as we gather around the fire and after the carols, Long Leys Residents’ Association committee members will be on hand to give updates on local issues to those who may be interested. Please feel free to raise any new issues with us, or just come along to say hello!
Mulled wine and mince pies will again be on offer courtesy of some of Karen Lee's ward budget!

Thanks Neville, though without Pete before and Hugh now, ward budgets and the lovely people in the house that supply the power, we could not make it happen!

It's usually well supported. Never less than 40 so far and have had nearly 90! There'll be 6 litres of mulled wine (or orange juice) and nearly 50 mince pies to enjoy around the fire. Don't forget a little torch or lantern if you're not good with all the words!

Thanks for all the support again this year - around 60 people braved the cold and icy walk including the cutest cocooned 10 week old!! Also big thanks to Hugh and his helpers who were also chipping away at the ice on the entrance and for the wonderful guy who managed to play his guitar through all but the last Carol when his fingers became just too cold - but then we had his wonderful singing voice over the mic!

We managed to drain all the wine and eat all the pies and the kids loaded up the fire... sorry if that bothered anyone we deliberately use smokeless fuel, but it certainly got the heat going!
