I have a number of these semi- hardy banana plants for sale - all proceeds to the Residents' Association. They are potted but will need repotting when you get them home. I have 1 foot, 2 foot and four foot specemins for sale at £5.50 per foot!
Small ones make houseplants - but they grow to 12" in the right conditions.
I've seen these grown outside in Cornwall and survive all year with suitable care in winter. I have mine in a large pot and take it into the Garage during frosty periods.

email me at junk@pillinger.net if you are interested.

Here is some more details:
Musa Basjoo Japanese Hardy Banana plant.
This is the hardiest of the banana plants and will survive outdoors in the UK in mild areas.
A superb and dramatic plant for the exotic garden, this Japanese banana has striking foliage - large bright green leaves, arching up from a main stem. It brings a tropical atmosphere to any garden.
This root hardy banana will reach 3 metres tall in summer if planted out and can grow a 2m long leaf every week in mid-summer! In ideal conditions it may even produce fruit [which is not edible], but it is normally grown for it's visual appeal.

The Japanese Banana can be left outside all year round in most parts of the UK. It's rapid growth habit makes it ideal for the UK climate. Given winter protection with a mulch or straw you can produce a really stunning plant well over 10 feet tall and 4 feet wide.

Musa Basjoo will readily develop suckers off the main stem to form a clump, similar to bananas in tropical countries. A stunning tropical plant to show off to your non-gardening friends and relatives!
