Any Parent and Baby/Child Groups Out There?

Postby Lucy Louch » Tue Jul 28, 2009 12:23 pm

Hello.

I wondered if there are any parent and baby/child groups operating (formally or informally) on the St George’s estate? I am a new Mum with a young baby and wondered if any residents already meet up for a bit of adult company and socialising. (I often see the same prams going round the estate, like me)!

Thanks, Lucy.

Hi there!
There is the sure start centre at the rear of st faiths school, this offers various groups including music groups, stay and play (bit like toddlers) free internet access also health visitor! If you go and sign up they send you a scheduel of what is going on each week and when. There is also a baby signing class held at church hall on burton road (think monday mornings), this is great helps babys communicate before their vocal cords develop! Also the toy libary on waterside near LA fitness, not an organised group but there are always diffenent people there to talk to, get tips and help from! Also have a look at netmums.com, Hope this helps

Hi there

there is also a toddler group that meets on Friday mornings in the Annexe next to St Faith & St Martin Junior School. Just go through the main school gates on Hampton Street and go into the building immediately on your right.

Cheers

On the assumption that Si is a 'Simon' how noughties that all replies have been from Blokes. I don't think that means Lucy that the girls aren't friendly, next you recognise a pram why not invite one for a coffee, have two more and you have a different coffee stop once a week for a month. If there's ever a room built at the SEC (ha!!) you'll already have the start of a Local Mums club. Maybe all those same prams you see are thinking the same thing but no one wants to be first to ask!!

Hello again

I just wanted to say a quick thank you to those who have taken the time to reply to me. Thanks particularly to Grahame, as I have contacted the Sure Start Centre and am awaiting an appointment. If any fellow 'pram pushers' wish to meet up and/or start a group, perhaps thats something that could be easily organised.
