A ticket down Memory Lane to enjoy...
Nostalgia, music and dancing is the theme for the May Bank Holiday Saturday Special on May 24th. So come dressed in 1940's style, military or civilian (optional) and swing in the mood for the 1940s Dance and Big Band Night being held in the World War Two gymnasium at the Metheringham Airfield Visitor Centre where dancing begins from 8.00pm.
The famous Ockbrook Big Band from Derbyshire will be playing music from that era and they themselves will be kitted out in authentic GI uniforms from WW2.
The Friends of Metheringham Airfield invite you to experience of what will be a good night to remember and if afterwards you wish to stand on the remains of the runway and peri track now used as public roads, you may hear the drone of the Rolls Royce Merlin engines that powered the Lancaster bombers of 106 Squadron which flew from RAF Metheringham during the war period, returning from a bombing mission.
Tickets are £16.00 which includes supper. They are available from the Visitor Centre or by sending a cheque payable to "The Friends of Metheringham Airfield" together with a stamped addressed envelope to:
Metheringham Airfield Visitor Centre, Westmoor Farm, Martin Moor, Metheringham, Lincoln LN4 3BQ.
Further details telephone 01526 378270 or 378604.
