Claranet is nothing to do with speed - he just loves it for it's customer friendliness. Living in Burton with .5 speeds, dial up is almost as good and he's sticking to it!

How about, if Virgin do it, you ask for some flyers to deliver that show the deals and give a number/email/web site or whatever to register interest. They are in Lincoln, my friend, when he was on Cross O Cliff hill had them - though maybe that could technically be outside the city boundary? Not sure.

I certainly wouldn't endorse fiddling with BT's master socket, but apparently you can save yourself the cost of the iPlate "filter" by simply disconnecting the bell wire at the back of the socket (I'm told it's the solid orange wire to terminal 3, although obviously I've never looked).
