Questions to be answered

Postby Neville » Fri Jan 22, 2010 4:20 pm

I have two questions which people if they know can give me answers.

Can someone tell me where the riding school is going from Bakers Field when building starts on the cemetary.

The building of the former Social Education Centre has not been used for sometime. I hear on the grapevine that in the summer it will be demolished. Can someone tell me what will happen next. I understand that the County Council and City Council have not agreed what will happen to the site. I also have been informed that the Long Leys Road area was to have some community facilities but nothing has transpired.

Neville.the riding school at present has not got any were to go.we have to move off at the end of march as per our lease.we are awaiting an offer of land in place of the one we have had for 40 year but as pointed out many times, the council are under no obligation legally to find a replacement. i have been and still am trying to find a replacement with them.i can assure everyone we are not going to the ex social services building on long leys rd. tony

i think waht steve w has said on the new topic under "interesting" that insurances companies have looked at bakers field which has water springs underneath. and the ridge above is subsiding. the cemetary will have to be insured by the council. it is possible that other insurance companies will follow suit later. i have spoken to the council who say that they will start building the cemetary when the riding schools lease expires. this coming april? so what are residents doing about this is my question to those who have been complaining about the new cemetary. they have gone very quiet. i hope tony gets another piece of land for the riding school. it will be a shame if the riding school is of no more. we were supposed to have community facilities for what i was told was to be an urban village. that was in 1998. muslims are looking for land to build a mosque. perhaps the social education centre can be used for that rather than more housing. i think they know about the land which is up for sale.

Jeff not sure what you think 'the quiet people' can do given that full planning permission has been granted.

SEC was to have been razed last September, don't know why the delay but it was a drain on security for the council. We still hope, and continue to ask for, some community facility even if it is within housing but as you say there has been much sorting for the two councils to do between themselves even before residents can get involved. It's not a definite 'no' but neither is there anything positive to report.
