One of the main water pipes is leaking on Long Leys Road. The leakage is near the entrance to Gervas House, St Georges Hospital. It was reported to Anglian Water (0845 714 5145) on Christmas Day. The leakage was surveyed and was not considered important for immediate repairs.
Today, 26th December, the weather has changed and since the ice and snow are thawing, the water leak is now bubbling up in several places covering the footpath, soaking the grass verge, and a small lake is appearing covering half of the road. It appears that the nearby drains are blocked with fallen leaves.
The matter has been reported to Anglian Water (ref: 34767849) again today for urgent action for it may freeze tonight making matters worse for tomorrow. The Water Authority is sending out engineers this afternoon to review the situation.
BBC Radio Lincolnshire is apparently warning motorists on their radio broadcasts today about the leakage.
