STREET LIGHTS - David Wilson homes

Postby tudor » Tue Sep 30, 2008 12:00 pm

Lincoln County Council, Highways Department are not responsible for faulty street lighting yet as the roads have not been adopted.

The people to contact are David Wilson Homes, Technical Department, Tel. 0115 9007550 and ask to speak to Bridget on ext. 232. They need to know either the Lamp No. or the no. of the house(s) in the road near the actual faulty lamp(s). This is because they won't send anyone out in the daytime and test all the lamps - too costly.

It's a pity no one has numbered the street lamps. I've eported the ones on Midia, Fordham and Berilldon but notice a cherry picker at a completely different light. I reported the ones on the green last October and the October before that. It'll soon be October and time for another go. I think we'll have to wait for the estate (yes - NOT village) to be adopted and then press for maintenance of the lights. It seems to be Lincoln City's way of doing things.

This IS worth noting and one very small advantage of unadopted roads: If you are thinking of having a skip it can be put on the road without the need for a permit.

It was good thing that our small estate was adopted sooner rather than later. Odd cars began appearing at the bottom of Mitchell Drive, some old and some new. They did not belong to any of the residents but belonged to folk using the West Common.
However, a couple were parked there for a few days before moving.
The police did inform us at the time that there were a number of abandoned cars being left in the West End of Lincoln which took a few months to get removed. One or two were being vandalised in the meantime.
The problem with unadopted roads is that they could be used as dumping ground for vehicles before something is done about it. This has been the case with unadopted roads near to farm land and in the countryside of Lincolnshire.
So be aware on St Georges Park!

Hi

Early this evening I went out to get my boys in (my cats) and even more street lights were not working, it is getting dark so early and with the clocks going back this month I think the lights do need sorting asap. I actually felt quite nervous and scared walking only down a couple of streets I know well such as Fordham drive and Manrico and with a few of the houses in complete darkness there was no light at all. Surely there must be something we could do as on some streets more than half are not working, on Fordham only 1 was working this side of Manrico. It just feels a bit unsafe and with the number of break-ins recently are we in a prime position for more if it is a poor lit area. If anyone has heard if St Georges is a government targetted area for the trial "blackouts" could someone inform me so I stock up on torches and recharagble batteries :D

Many thanks
