Buses, Girls and cats with legs

Postby James » Wed Apr 02, 2008 11:33 am

There is a bus with 7 girls.
Each girl has 7 bags.
In each bag, there are 7 big cats
Each big cat has 7 little cats.

Each cat has 4 legs.

Question: How many legs are present in the bus?

Number of legs is the password to open the attached file. (I can confirm it is virus free BTW)

If you open the file, the idea was to write your name on the list inside, and send this email to your friends to let them solve this riddle.

Please don't share the correct answer, at least not for now :)

Very good! It's the maths equivalent of that mail that goes round and says 'how many 'e's in this sentence'! When you think you've got the answer and can't get in with the password and begin to believe it must be cryptic it isn't. It's straight forward but very brain fogging maths and there's no bus driver so don't try adding two!

JT, tell me even you missed a step the first (or even second!)time around!!

:)

I did wonder how many seats there are on the bus and do the seats have legs too :)

Also how did these girls carry that many cats, and where were they going? :?:

This reminds me of a rhyme from my childhood:

As I was going to St Ives
I met a man with 7 wives
Each wife had 7 sacks
Each sack had 7 cats
Each cat had 7 kits
Kits, cats, sacks & wives, how many were going to St Ives?
