ECHO artcle re. The Graveyard

Having failed to get info from the council re. the other possible sites I contacted the Echo to see if they could find out but because of possible negotiations for land the information is commercially sensitive. However, because of the huge amount of hits on the subject, thay feel that doing an article may push the council into revealing some of the detail. So, Chris, SteveW, Rob, Pete, Sally and anyone else with a strong view on this can you email me with your contact details if you are preapred to speak to the Echo about this and I will pass them on. If you're not but are prepared to be quoted from what you say here (or even NOT prepared) also let me know. You never know, we may find out quicker that it definitely WON'T be here and everyone can all be fairly happy again! It goes without saying that I will not say anything, I don't want anyone thinking my views are those of the LLRA...!!!

No one wanted to go public/be quoted on this so the article did not go ahead. The contact is Emma Sneddon and of course it is now out in the open.

I would suggest that residents who are concerned about the cemetery being built on Bakers's Field get together and get themselves organised and go to this consultative meeting at the Grandstand for Thursday, 8th November.
They should telephone Emma Sneddon on her direct number to the Lincolnshire Echo which is 01522 804321.
They should contact the four (4) local councillors and request them to attend too.
Use the meeting to express concerns, objections and views giving valid reasons.
They should also ask the local councillors and Lincoln City Council officers why Baker's Field cannot continue to be used for horse riding and horse grazing as it has been done for many years.
Also to question why the other two sites which either are not being considered or have been left out of the consultation.
Make sure that the Echo is there at this meeting and make arrangements to speak to them there, together with local councillors and so forth.
For Action speaks louder than Words!

Hi all,
I received the letter from the Council about the proposed site. What it didn't show were access points. I can't believe htey will enter the site from Long Leys Road directly - the corner there would be too dangerous so I suspect there woud be one from the estate.

Hi John and one and all...

I would suggest that one or two ( if not more) residents book an appointment with the appropriate planning officer at City Hall to look at any site plans being proposed for the cemetery. Before doing so, ask first if there are any plans available. From what is said, decide what to do next.
If you feel that you are being fobbed off, request to speak to a senior officer about the situation.
Make yourself known and if any officer decides that a call back would have to be made after investigation, make arrangements for a time and date and ask for the officer's name, extension number or direct telephone number for reference sake.

John.

Having not seen the letter from Lincoln City Council which was sent to a few residents on St Georges Park about the proposed cemetery on Baker's Field, my contact at City Hall say that no planning application has been forwarded to Planning.
What has been done so far are proposals and that is all.
If residents wish to find out more about these proposals then please contact Steve Lockwood who is the officer responsible and who is a Community Services Officer employed by City Hall.
His direct number is 01522 873520
His e-mail address is
steve.lockwood@lincoln.gov.uk
By the way, none of our three (3) ward councillors know about these proposals.
So residents should now start making enquiries if they are concerned.
Emma Sneddon from the Lincolnshire Echo is speaking to me tomorrow about the Roman remains which have been found underneath Baker's Field. The Echo too is also contacting Mr Arthur Baker himself about the situation.
Care to play your part!

Emma Snedden from the Echo rang me this afternoon concerning Baker's Field being turned into a cemetery.
She has interviewed a number of residents living on St Georges Park about their views about the situation. Some have had their photographs taken.
Their story will be published in the Echo tomorrow that is 2nd of November's issue.
The Echo are interviewing Arthur Baker later for another story about the field he has been renting for horse riding and grazing.
Another article will be about the consultation meeting with residents which will be held at the Grandstand next week.
Then the Echo is doing yet another story on the archeology that has been found underneath Baker's Field and the significance of Roman history associated in the area.
So from what will be written, residents will have an opportunity to respond by writing letters to "Your View" which is part of the Lincolnshire Echo newspaper.
I would suggest that residents use these opportunities coming to express their views and perhaps use the situation about our missing Urban Village.
