new drain

Postby iggy » Wed Jul 25, 2007 8:21 pm

look out at the bottom of the road they are just about to connect the new land drain to the system and at this time we have about 30m of open trenches on view at aprox 2m deep by 500mm wide full to the brim with water plus aprox 300m of other trenches full as well . let hope some body has replaced the system at the start of st georges on long leys if they havent get ready for the toilet paper and #### all over the road every time it rains

drains

Postby iggy » Wed Oct 17, 2007 7:05 am

4 months later in light rain it is still happening
when and by who is it going to get sorted
or will it be after somebody catches somthing and is very ill
its as bad as the open drains of the 1500s or the shanty towns around the world
time for action if nobody sorts out soon before some body is ill

Ian I have been told by someone else that the drain at the bottom of Carram was OK but that the run off drain at the side of the pavement on Long Leys was overflowing. When I went past at lunch it had obviously subsided but you could see the debris left by it. No loo paper that I could see this time - or toy soldiers! The difference is whether it's unadopted or not and who takes responsibility. The council should keep the gulley drains clear and I will report that one but of course anyone can make the call, the LLRA are not really there to make telephone calls where the weight of a recognised body is not required, I'll just report it as me noticing it. Carram, now there's a different story but could it have been water from the Long Leys overflow?

drains

Postby iggy » Thu Oct 18, 2007 6:15 pm

deb sorry to be a pain over this matter but i checked at 5 10 pm today and yes there is still evedence of toilet paper all around the right hand drain at the junction on long leys . if theres paper theres going to be other things mixed in it
as you know and can see from all the entrys on this page its an old problem and some attempt to sort it out has been made but not worked this could go on for years if left alone . we are in the year 2007 i think not 1507 and should not have a problem like this
i must add if this problem was outside city hall /on the high street/or around the brayford it would have been sorted in before know NOT LEFT FOR 6 YEARS
i have taken action and called DW on wednesday pm asking to talk to a senior manager but todate nobody has bothered to return my call as always
i will be contacting the echo over the weekend to ask them to run a story on this problem and other issues on the area do you want me to involve the llra on this matter could you please get the counclers to involve themselfs in this matter thanks

Ian, I'll make Pete aware of the posts.
Has DW taken responsibility for this drain? DW won't cut verges this end as it's Persimmon's (who seem to think it's council) but this road and drain have surely existed for a long time as it was the old entrance to the hospital. If that's the case then it should have been adopted and then AWG/Council should be sorting between them, either taking responsibility or getting the builders involved as the increased 'traffic' has done it in!

Iggy Pop, the DW boys have been out today doing a 'levelling' exercise on the drains. I mentioned what you'd seen but was the health hazard coming from the two drain covers together or the one lower down? Both would be an issue but the two together are storm water and should not have sewage in them. If you want to clarify with Mr Bebbington, you have until Friday. After that he is redundant - Barretts obviously feel they can do without him!

drains

i note they have painted blue /red on lids .i will ask RB today which is storm and which is foul the norm is red for foul if this is correct we have rain water getting into foul water system and i mean a lot of water as it is the foul that was overflowing [oh heck] in light to mid rainfall but in storm rain both systems blow [double oh heck]
any one else planning more houses around here ?
deb on a serious note when the new houses come on line is it 24 no they will be in the main run of pipes before these man holes so it will be even harder for are system to discharge into pipework this is what i think with my limited time in the building game [trust me] no more conections must go into these pipes until longleys is dug up and main system is looked into
they dont know were manholes are on site [remember a few weeks ago found one near us tarmaced over ] is there more ?i think there is still a lot of problems to come but what do i know lol

seems to me that the people that should make it their business to know, i.e. the council that give permissions to these builders are at fault. It's not like they don't already know about the complaints. I think they feel they are in the 'not us' league until adoption, which they won't do until all is working, but then they do not seem to have sufficient power to ensure that it is!
